Pasture-Raised and Grass-fed Meats

Alongside the orchard, we have begun a venture of raising a variety of sustainably raised meats in order to provide our local area with quality fresh meats. We love the diversity that our animals add to our land. We offer a large variety of cuts available for puchase in our Sales Barn and for reservation during our off-seasons. Keep reading below to learn a little bit about each of the different types of animals we have.

Chicken

We raise our chicken on pasture during the summer months. Each bird lives it’s life enjoying a mix of grass, bugs, and non-gmo grains. Our chickens are moved to new pasture daily and supplemented with a diverse mix of locally-grown non-GMO grain. We grind our own animal feed, which allows us to have a very comprehensive knowledge of what our chickens eat.

Our chicken is sold frozen. We offer whole chickens, as well as a limited number of chicken cuts including boneless and skinless breasts, drumsticks, thighs, wings, spatchcocked chickens, and necks and back for soup.

 

Pork

We grow pasture-raised heritage Berkshire pork. Our pigs are raised on pasture/woodlot their whole lives and fed a very diverse non-GMO grain ration. They also enjoy a variety of garden goodies, apples, and pumpkins. Berkshire pork is highly regarded as some of the best pork available. The meat is dark in color and the fat put on from it’s diverse diet is super flavorful. 

You can find select cuts available packaged and frozen in our Sales Barn. If you’d be interested in a whole or half pig, we have two butcher dates a year. Please call or email us for details! Pigs are sent to Otto’s Meats in Luxemburg for processing. We are so pleased with this butcher as they use a natural curing method. They make use of celery salts for what you’d buy in the store as an ‘uncured’ meat, made without the use of added synthetic nitrites. In addition, all of their sausage flavorings are natural and do not contain any MSG.  

 

Turkey

During the fall, we raise turkeys on pasture. These turkeys are raised specifically for Thanksgiving and are processed for fresh pick-up the week before Thanksgiving. Our turkeys are raised very similarly to our chicken. They spend the majority of their time on pasture and moved often to enjoy lush new green growth. Our turkeys are very friendly creatures and love to interact with us as we fill their feeders with our diverse non-GMO grain ration as a supplement to the greens and bugs the forage on pasture. 

We take reservations for our turkeys on a first come, first serve basis. Please call, email, or visit us in our Sales Barn for information. A $50 deposit is required to reserve your turkey. We try our best to accommodate weight preferences!
